What are
Vintage Lucite Beads?
Lucite beads are mostly carved out of tubes of Lucite
unlike many other plastic or glass beads which are pressed into a
mould. Due to the procedure followed in manufacturing a Lucite
bead, there are no seams in the bead.
The start of plastic jewellery was introduced in the 19th century
and became particularly popular in the 1920's and 30's. Because
of its versatility it became a fashionable choice for costume
jewellery and became even more admired in the 1950s for its Jelly
Belly Jewellery. The popularity continues to date.
Lucite beads are mostly vintage in age as they are no longer
produced.
Even though they can be a chunkier bead, they are relatively
light weight & won't add heaviness to your jewellery
creation.
