Crimping Pliers for Jewellery Making

Crimping pliers help finish beaded jewellery neatly and securely. Use them with compatible crimp beads and crimp tubes to fasten beading wire and attach clasps on necklaces, bracelets and anklets.

Our range includes bead crimping tools, micro crimpers for small crimps and fold-over pliers for compatible cord-end findings.

Crimping Tools for Beading & Jewellery Making

Bead crimping pliers use shaped jaw recesses to compress and fold a suitable crimp around beading wire. Matching the tool, crimp and wire helps create a compact finish at the clasp end of your design.

Fold-over crimping pliers serve a different purpose: they help close compatible fold-over findings around materials such as leather and suede cord. Choose your tool according to the finding you are using, rather than the overall size of the pliers.

Complete your project with wire and stringing materials, jewellery clasps and beads. See the FAQs below the products for help choosing your crimping tool.

Crimping Pliers FAQs

What are crimping pliers used for in jewellery making?

Bead crimping pliers shape compatible crimp beads and tubes around beading wire to secure clasp connections on necklaces, bracelets and anklets. They help create a compact, tidy finish when the tool, crimp and wire are correctly matched.

Which crimping pliers should I choose?

Start with the size and type of your crimp. Our Micro Crimper is designed for 1mm crimps, while the Pocket Crimper suits 2–3mm round or tube crimps. The Xuron 494 Four-in-One Crimping Pliers handle 1mm, 2mm and 3mm crimp tubes. Check the individual tool specifications and your crimp manufacturer's guidance before choosing.

Are micro crimpers and pocket crimpers the same?

No. A micro crimper is designed for smaller crimps; our micro tool suits 1mm crimps. A pocket crimper has a compact overall size for convenient storage and travel, but our pocket model suits larger 2–3mm round or tube crimps. A smaller tool does not necessarily mean it is designed for smaller crimps.

Which pliers do I need for fold-over cord ends?

Choose fold-over crimping pliers for compatible fold-over findings used with leather, suede and similar cord materials. These findings wrap around the cord and require a different jaw shape from the tools used to form small bead crimps on beading wire.

How do I get a secure crimp?

Match the crimp to your beading wire and use a tool designed for that crimp size and style. Follow the tool manufacturer's forming sequence, taking care with the wire placement inside the crimp. Gently test the finished connection before trimming the wire tail. If the connection slips or the crimp cracks, replace the crimp and check the sizing and technique.

Do I need a crimp cover?

A crimp cover is an optional finishing component placed over a completed crimp to give it a bead-like appearance. Secure and check the crimp first, then choose a cover large enough to fit over it. A cover conceals the connection; it does not replace the crimp that holds the wire.

Can I use normal pliers instead of crimping pliers?

Flat-nose pliers can flatten some crimps, but they do not create the same folded, rounded finish as a dedicated bead crimping tool. For crimps designed to be formed in two steps, use crimping pliers matched to their size. Some crimp styles require a different method, so always follow the crimp manufacturer's instructions.
